Women’s Forum

Launched in Deauville in 2004, the Women’s Forum is a space for meetings, discussion and debate, which gives women of influence from every generation and background the chance to talk about current and future major issues in our society. The L’Oréal Corporate Foundation has taken an active part in the Women’s Forum since its creation.

After presenting the book entitled "100,000 years of Beauty" at the Women’s Forum in 2009, this year the L’Oréal Foundation chose to take the floor again on the theme of appearance, with a guest of honour committed to the cause of the Foundation. Her name is Aimee Mullins, and she is one of the authors of "100,000 years of Beauty".

Aimee Mullins (in the picture on the left) had both legs amputated below the knee when she was a small child. She is now a top level fashion model, actress and athlete. She was an athletics champion in the 1996 Paralympics, beating the 100m, 200m and long jump world records. In 1998, she appeared in a fashion show for Alexander McQueen, who carved her a pair of wooden legs. She also takes part in shows for Dior and Valentino.
